Read-More Tips

A follower asked me this: May I ask...where in the world do you get the time to read all of this?

1. Make reading a priority.

I’m not saying that you should put down everything else for reading, although that can actually be quite tempting *wicked laugh*, but I mean make a certain time during your day for just reading, make it a habit and don't even let any other task take that reading time of yours, even if it’s just for half an hour a day. I usually do that before bed, even if I read the whole day long. Just half an hour everyday. It’s gonna make a difference.

2.   If you're a slow reader, like myself, embrace it.

It used to annoy me that I take so much time reading one book when I can read two and I did many things trying to hurry myself up, but then I realized that when I read slowly I absorb better and, since I’m reading for pleasure, this is the essence. So if you can't read more, read well.

3.  ALWAYS keep a book with you.

Whether you’re in a doctor’s waiting room or simply waiting for your friends to hang out, make that time for reading. Trust me, nothing else can make time passes.

4.   Don’t stress yourself with reading.

When you have this huge reading list or this massive reading challenge, at certain time, it can become a source of stress in your life and when this happens, you’ll lose the pleasure of reading and you’ll read slower and less. Don't forget that you're reading for pleasure so my advice to you is to set smaller goals and when you achieve them, set higher/larger goals.

5.  Don’t be scared to put a book down.

If you’re not enjoying a book, JUST PUT IT DOWN. I always struggle to do that because I always think it's unfair to judge a book without finishing it and then the book may die or something, but sometimes the time is just not right for that book to be read. Sometimes, when I insist on reading a book gives me an “off” feeling towards reading and, of course, makes me slower. It takes a lot of courage, but if I could do it, then you can.
